The Cambridge Pianola Company is very sad to announce the recent death of its co-founder and sole proprietor FT (Tom) Poole.

The business has several large pianola restoration projects in hand and new projects will be considered as before. Sales of pianolas and pianola rolls are also continuing.

The executors of Tom's estate are consulting on the longer term future of the business with its skilled workforce. They would also be very pleased to hear any expressions of interest, or other proposals or suggestions for the long term future of the business from the many lovers of pianolas that we know are out there. If you have any suggestions or proposals please contact peter.aslet@amartin.co.uk

Company History

Cambridge Pianola Company was established in the early 1970's as the U.K Agent for the Aeolian Corporation, supplying to the hotel and catering trade through publicity and national exhibitions, and also to Harrods and other retail outlets. Through being the the leading European stockist of new music rolls, we responded to customer demand by extending into the supply of a full range of materials for the restoration of player pianos; then, through the development of a team of expert technicians and craftsmen, into the complete restoration of period automatic musical instruments and pianos. Concurrently, we also became the U.K Agents for the Nickelodeon Piano Company to broaden the range of suitable instruments available for commercial use. This dual aspect of our business has continued, serving both private customers and commercial users, and supplying music in appropriate formats for both.

Cambridge Pianola Company has become the recognised leader in complete restoration work and supplies instruments to the catering trade and to private customers, throughout the U.K and abroad. In addition to our restoration work, we have undertaken the conversion of conventional pianos for automatic play.

We offer expert craftmanship in the restoration of automatic instruments and pianos. Leading makes can always be seen at out premises. Part-exchange and rental terms are available. Enquiries from customers for the restoration of their own instruments are always welcome. Tom Poole, co-founder and sole proprietor, deals personally with customer enquiries and detailed quotations.
